EMS Express Service -- Which country is better shipping to by EMS

EMS Express Service is provided by China Courier Service Corporation (CCSC), which is a 100% State Post Bureau-owned subsidiary. Depending on the special advantage of China Post and its own efforts, China EMS has established a continuously growing network, which links the world, covers the whole nation and connects rural areas with cities. The network now reaches over 200 countries and regions and up to 2000 domestic cities. The company now employs over 20,000 professional courier staff and more than 15,000 specialized courier collection and delivery vehicles.

EMS is doing well in domestic delivery. However, in international express service, EMS is not Jack of all trades. According my personal experience in export from China, EMS is fast when shipping to below countries.

Shipping from China to Australia: my colleagues told me shipping by EMS from China to Australia just takes around 4-5 days. It is almost as fast as DHL, UPS, Fedex and TNT. But the cost of EMS should be less. By the way, custom clearance is also very well.

Shipping from China to Greece: Shipping by EMS to countries in Europe is very slow, almost one month. However, there are always exceptions. Shipping from China to Greece by EMS takes around 1 week. It is better than DHL, UPS, Fedex and TNT. Not only because the shipping cost is less, but also custom clearance is faster.

Shipping from China to Argentina: Argentina is the country farthest away from China. Even shipping by UPS or Fedex, it will take around 1 week. Shipping by EMS from China to Argentina also takes around 1 week too.  As far as I know, custom in South America is a big problem, however, if you import products from China to Argentina and the weight is less than 30KG, EMS is the best shipping method.

CarryGo is a freight forwarder in Guangzhou, China. Since 2000, CarryGo help customers shipping all kinds of products from China to all over the world. CarryGo does well in international express service for electronic products.

The solution is available for more than 3 000 500 employees, while serving the operational areas of import and export company in direct contact with customers.

Hector de Santiago Ramirez, IT Services Manager at DHL Express, said that “the systems department of DHL Express is an area whose main focus is the adoption of proven technologies, which also maximizes the efficiency of employees, means a saving costs by optimizing the resources of the company. “

The document management solution Xerox printing was implemented in late 2009 and DHL Express has meant a saving of 20 to 25% compared with the previous printing solution that was managed in house.

This solution was able to standardize the printing process of the company nationwide. Now they have installed a total of 405 teams in 56 seasons Xerox and more than 200 points of sale of DHL, which meet all the technical, financial and human resources that the company requires.

The most tangible benefits experienced by the company thanks to this solution have been reflected in four points as the savings in consumables, paper savings, lower purchasing parts and service above all an expert in document management solutions and printing Xerox. A project that seemed essential in cost savings became a strategic project with a direct impact on customers of DHL.

“Today, DHL Express Mexico moves daily over 100 thousand items, each involving the printing of key documents for our clients. Having an efficient solution that gives us as Xerox, has allowed us to stop worrying about this work and focus on our real business, “concluded James Hector Ramirez.

DHL Express increases rates

DHL Express is increasing its prices by an average of  3.5 per cent for international products and 5 per cent for domestic products.

The UK price rises are in line with the general average price increase across European and come into force on 1st January.

The shipping cost is much in the total cost of international trade. If you are looking for a discount on shipping cost, you can contact CarryGo

TNT Post targets online retailers

TNT Post UK, part of the PostNL group, has launched a packet and parcel for the online retail market which it reckons will be five to ten per cent cheaper than Royal Mail.

It has invested in automatic sorting machines in its Iver depot for the new service, which will offer real time management information where clients can apply barcodes to their packets, and monitor their progress online.

Guernsey Post has signed on as a client, and its head of bulk mail, Shaun Lihou, said: “We have to ensure that our clients receive an efficient and quality service and working with TNT Post will enable us to fulfil that promise.”

Chief executive officer, Nick Wells, said: “Our expansion into packets and parcels is a key part of strategic growth plan in the UK… Online retail packets and parcel delivery is a growing trend within the postal sector and our aim is to be the main provider in this sector.”

How to Import from China

Steps:

1. Find the products you're interested in. There are many sources to find your products. The internet is the easiest one to start with. There are many web listing services, where, you can register your username, post the products of your interest, and you will receive tons of products supply information and perhaps a price list.

2. Establish a relationship with potential suppliers. Select a few potential suppliers to communicate with. When contacting suppliers, provide information about your company. The good suppliers already have more business than they can handle - you want to market yourself so that they want to do business with you. When qualifying suppliers, you can ask them how long they've been in business. Check and confirm everything that you can.

3. Narrow down to the supplier that you really want to work with. Discuss the price and trade relationship. Obtain product samples and review them (and their packaging, instructions, and any other collateral) for quality - you may have to pay a nominal fee. Discuss shipping and payment terms. Gather all necessary information to prepare for placing a trial order. When placing the purchase order, include as many details as you can think of.

4. Understand trade terms and use them. Before placing any order, you need to understand and confirm with your suppliers about shipment terms. Most popular are "fob", as well as payment terms. These are closely related to your landing cost calculation and risk assessment. You can consult an import management company and a freight forwarder for detail break-down on the costs and risks. You can also use an import management company to negotiate the trade terms.

5. Understand payment terms. Somewhat common is to pay 30% at time of order, and the remaining 70% when the product ships. The down payment gives the manufacturer/supplier funds necessary to begin production. These terms are negotiable.

6. As the Importer of record, you (not the supplier) are legally responsible for making sure that goods brought into the country meet all national regulatory requirements. Goods that don't meet requirements can be stopped at the border or can result in future legal suits. Don't just take a supplier's word that requirements are being met. Do your homework on compliance issues and make sure you know requirements are being met. You need to understand the relevant import compliance regulations beforehand. Besides US Customs and Border Protection, other government authorities like USDA, FDA, DOT, and ATF also regulate the importation. Pay particular attention when you import textile products from china. Go to the websites of these agencies to understand, register or download the forms. Compliance issues can be very complicated for some products. It is highly recommended to consult a good customs house broker before placing any order.

7. Select a forwarder and customs house broker. Go to your local international trade organization/association and customs office to find the list. Visit them, and select the one you like. For the first time importer, use more individualized services, because you need more attention than you would expect. You may ask your local customs bureau for help on assessing custom duties amount for your products, or use a chinese freight forwarder such as CarryGo

8. Place a trial order with a written purchase order if everything goes well. In the purchase order, besides typing out a detailed description of the products, product requirements, packaging requirements, etc., and trade terms, list all needed shipping documents.

9. Appoint an inspection company to check your goods on site in the factory, and give you a detailed report. It is very helpful to provide the inspection company details about what to check. Without such details, the inspection company may think products are okay even though you won't. You may also consider having inspections done of components that are going into assembly early in the process. This can help avoid last minute quality problems. This is usually done a few days before the expected shipment, so you can address any issues that would be raised. This will allow you to avoid receiving defective or non-conforming goods.

10. Track the transportation and customs clearance. Your forwarder and customs broker should take care of your transportation and customs clearance. However, you also need to track the process and assistance, such as providing additional products information and endorsing bill of landing. You need to issue a power of attorney to your broker and purchase customs bond for your importation.

11. Receive the products and keep the records. Now you can go to your next step to sell your products and make profit.

12. Do not order counterfeit or branded products, unless the supplier can prove they are an authorized reseller. You can contact the brand owner to confirm the supplier is an authorized reseller.

Featured line: Shipping from China to Russia and Ukraine

With the developing of Russia, Ukraine and China, the business between China and Russia, China and Ukraine is increasingly quickly. However, no matter chinese exporter or russian importers or ukraine importers, they found their merchandise is difficult to pass custom.

Is it safe to ship by DHL or UPS to Russia and Ukraine?

DHL and UPS are the largest express service company in the world. Generally, they are able to ship regular merchandise to all over the world fast and safely. However, custom clearance in Russia and Ukraine is more difficult than in any other countries. If russian or ukraine importers don't have many experience on custom clearance, the merchandise will be hold and importers have to pay a lot for custom tax. The worse is that it will take long time. Time is money, many importers lose money when they are waiting for the merchandise.

Ship by EMS -- Chinese exporters' choice

EMS is international express service provided by China Post. As far as we know, the package ship by EMS has less problem on russian and ukraine custom. The shipping cost of EMS is not expensive. However, EMS has two shortage. First, EMS is slower than DHL and UPS. It takes around 25 days from China to Russia and Ukraine. Second, EMS has limited on the weight of package. The package must be less than 30KG. If the merchandise is more than 30GK, you have to divide it into several pacakge and the shipping cost will be very expensive.

DHL delivers shirt deal

DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, has become the first official training kit sponsor of Manchester United in a ground-breaking deal for English football.

The new four-year-agreement sees the DHL logo included on the Club's training kit worn by all first, reserve and youth team players during domestic competitions and builds on DHL’s relationship behind the scenes at the club.

DHL has been the Club's Official Logistics Partner for a year and played a key role supporting United’s pre-season tour of the United States, and will continue to work hard to help deliver success on and off the pitch.

Announcing the new deal, Manchester United’s Chief Executive, David Gill, said: “This deal breaks new ground in the English game. John Pearson, CEO DHL Express (Europe), said: “This strategic partnership will see DHL getting more involved in the behind the scenes operations of Manchester United and supporting the club in its continued success.

Air Traffic Up In July, Freight Lower - IATA

Global air passenger numbers were surprisingly strong in July, while freight markets stagnated and the end of 2011 is still expected to be weak, the International Air Transport Association said on Thursday.

International passenger traffic rose 5.9 percent in July year-on-year, while freight traffic fell 0.4 percent, mainly due to weakness in the Asia-Pacific region following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, IATA said.
The rise in passenger numbers in July meant airlines filled 83.1 percent of available seats, even though capacity -- available seat km -- rose by 5.4 percent.

Planes were fullest in North America, where the passenger load factor was 86.8 percent in July, though that was also the region with the smallest increase in available capacity.

IATA said the increase in international passenger travel, which went beyond the normal seasonal fluctuation caused by holidays in the northern hemisphere, probably reflected optimism earlier in the year. The outlook, however, looked less rosy.

"With business and consumer confidence now tanking, sluggishness in international trade, and high fuel prices, the expectation is for a weaker end to the year. We are already seeing this in the shrinking air freight markets, which were 0.4 percent down on the previous year," Tony Tyler, IATA's director general said in a statement.
Governments are partly to blame, he said.

"Some of our challenges have a high percentage of government-made content. The recent downsizing of Air Berlin is a clear reminder of the high cost of the German departure tax on the economy, jobs and communities.

"Governments should not compromise aviation's role as an economic catalyst for the short-term revenue gain of gratuitous taxation -- particularly when economies remain weak," said Tyler.

Domestic passenger numbers were much weaker than international figures, largely because of the slump in Japan, where passenger traffic fell 16.7 percent from July 2010.

However, Indian and Brazilian domestic passenger traffic leapt by 20.6 percent and 17.8 percent, respectively. But the biggest markets, the United States and China, were sluggish. US growth was 2.1 percent, while Chinese traffic growth "slowed abruptly" to 5.1 percent, IATA said.

In freight markets, the overall fall of 0.4 percent since July 2010 reflected a 3.9 percent decline in the Asia-Pacific region and a 0.5 percent slip in Europe, which together outweighed single digit growth elsewhere in the world.

"Freight load factors have declined significantly (1.8 percentage points) to the pre-recession level of 45.0 percent. Asia-Pacific carriers, the largest in the market, have seen load factors slip to 58.1 percent (from 60.2 percent in July 2010)," IATA said.

UPS Joins FedEx in Planning Delivery Service on Aug. 29 as Damage Permits

United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) and FedEx Corp. (FDX), the biggest package-delivery companies, said they intend to resume normal operations tomorrow as damage from Tropical Storm Irene permits.

“Our intent is to dispatch Monday everywhere we’re allowed,” Norman Black, a spokesman for Atlanta-based UPS, said in an e-mail.

FedEx, which operates the world’s largest cargo airline, is preparing to move aircraft back to airports that were in Irene’s path as soon as the airports open and it can get employees in position to handle the planes and packages, said Scott Fiedler, a spokesman for the Memphis, Tennessee-based company.
Some customers may experience delays in pickups and deliveries because of downed trees and power failures, said Fiedler, who estimated that FedEx has more than 10,000 employees in the Irene storm zone.

FedEx ups Korea to Europe capacity with A300F

FedEx Express has announced that it has enhanced its services along the Asia-Europe route with the roll out of a new A300-600 aircraft on the existing route from Incheon, Korea into Europe over the FedEx Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, ten times per week.

The maximum load capacity of an A300-600 aircraft is approximately 50 tonnes, about 13 tonnes more than the A310-300 currently used on the route, which will allow for more goods to be transported.

The new aircraft deployment was launched in Guangzhou and a number of key locations throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa. This latest enhancement is expected to assist in meeting the increased demands for logistics services in Asia-Pacific and Europe, FedEx said in a statement. In addition, FedEx plans to deploy the new freighters in the FedEx AsiaOne network, which connects major cities in Asia within 24 hours.

How express service company calculate the shipping costs?

Most of our customers don't know how express service company calculate the shipping cost. This is very important. Because nobody would like to be charged more. Therefore, it is time to make it clear now.
UPS, Fedex, DHL and TNT are the biggest global express service company in the world. They use the same method to calculate the shipping costs.

The quotation of Express service company based on the WEIGHT. The unit they calculate the cost is 0.5KG. If the weight of a package is less than 0.5KG, they will calculate it as 0.5KG. For example, if a package is 1.55KG, they will calculate as 2KG rather than 1.5KG.

However, when they receive the package, they not only consider the weight, but also the volume. If the weight is bigger than the volume, they calculate the costs by the real weight. Otherwise, they calculate by the volume weight. What is volume weight? Volme weight is noun using only on freight industry. The formula of volume weight is length*width*height/5000, the unit for length is CM, the unit of volume weight is KG.

Take an example, if the weight of a parcel is 4.2KG, Length is 28CM, Width is 22CM, Height is 22CM. So volume weight is 28*22*22/5000=2.72KG. Therefore, express service company will calculate your parcel as 4.5KG.

Take another example, if the weight of a parcel is 4.2KG, Length is 38CM, Width is 32CM, Height is 32CM. So volume weight is 38*32*32/5000=7.79KG. Therefore, express service company will calculate your parcel as 8KG.

Different shipping agent have different discount. So it is difficult to tell you what cost is reasonable. However, since you know how they calculate now, you can do something save your money, such as reduce the size of the package. If the weight or the volume weight is 4.52KG, you'd better try to make it lighter or smaller.
