Cathay, Dragonair see 11% cargo drop in July

Cathay Pacific Airways has released combined Cathay Pacific and Dragonair traffic figures for July 2011 showing a year-on-year decline for cargo and mail tonnage while passenger numbers rose alongside a rise in capacity, compared to the same month in 2010.

The two airlines carried 140,050 tonnes of cargo and mail in July, an 11 per cent decrease compared to the same month last year, while the cargo and mail load factor was down 9.4 percentage points to 66.6 per cent. Capacity, measured in available cargo/mail tonne kilometres, was up by 4.2 per cent, while cargo and mail tonne kilometres flown were down by 8.6 per cent. For the year to date, tonnage has dropped by 5.2 per cent compared to a capacity increase of 12.9 per cent.
